After an offensive explosion last weekend, the Grandview Steelers had a rough time on the road against the Richmond Sockeyes on Thursday night dropping a 4-1 decision. The Steelers will face a tired White Rock Whalers team that dropped a goose egg on Saturday night against the Aldergrove Kodiaks. The Steelers will look to get some production from their top 6 and look to playing disciplined tonight.
The boys in black and gold were ready to go as they took advantage of some tired Whalers legs to go up 1-0 after some ferocious forechecking 3 minutes and 18 seconds in. The Steelers get some insurance later in the period as the top Steelers line had full control in the offensive in with Pettingale knocking in a rebound on an outstretched Whalers goaltender.
In the second both teams were taking liberties on each other as the parade to the penalty box on both side. Neither team were able to make the most of it as the score remained unchanged. Captain Yau was taken for a rough ride multiple times late in the period but the warrior was able to stay in the game. The Steelers will start the third period with the powerplay.
The final period saw both teams continue to battle for every inch. The Whalers finally get on the board with a powerplay which quickly settled the rising heat for a second. As the seconds ticked off the number of misconducts rose. The Steelers added a late empty net goal with the Whalers going all in.
The Steelers generated 22 shots while the Whalers replied with 23 shots.
