The Steelers Score Early and Often to defeat the Panthers

The Grandview Steelers have had an up and down start to the season where the team takes a step forward and then takes a step back. Both the Steelers and Port Moody Panthers both played last night, so both teams will look to get their hockey legs going as soon as possible. The Steelers did drop a decision to the Mission City Outlaws in a shootout picking up an important consolation point where as the Panthers also dropped a close 3-2 decision on the north shore against the North Vancouver Wolf Pack.

It was all Steelers, all the time right from the opening face-off and managed to solve Panthers goaltender Roman in 4:23 to open the floodgates with a nifty tip from Timperio. 34 seconds later, Phillips quick pick the puck to score unassisted to double the lead. Bradley and Loverock also added goals to end Roman’s night in 6:58 minutes. The Panthers did finally solve Steelers Carsten Shrimpton to get on the board and had 3 straight, almost straight, powerplays to get another one but was unable to do so from the tenacious Steelers Penalty kill.

In the middle frame, both teams picked up the pace which led to more back and forth play. Both teams didn’t change anything on the scoreboard but late in the period, Jacob Myers with a huge open ice hit.

The Steelers add an early goal and a late goal to put the finishing touches to the game. Forward Vincent Timperio gets credit for both goals to record a hat trick.

The Steelers generated 41 shots while the Panthers produced 26 shots.
