Today features the second inter-squad contest between Steelers Team Gold and Team Black. The previous contest saw Team Gold run up the score in the second but was unable to hold onto the lead as Team Black came roaring back in the third in dramatic fashion finding the equalizer in the final moments. Team Black completed the comeback, winning in the shoot out.
Team Gold scored early and often as they raced out to a 3 goal head. It was an absolute shooting gallery as both teams were slinging rubber into both nets. Luckily Team Gold were able to get some timely saves from the man in the mask. In the second period, Team Black were able to push back to get on the board, but the momentum swing was stopped short as Team Gold restores the lead off a 2 on 1 rush. In the third, the Gold Team learned from yesterday and put together a nice and tidy period to cruise to victory.
The players will have practices this week as they continue to prepare for their first taste of pre-season action this weekend. On Saturday, the Steelers will face off against the Port Moody Panthers at Port Moody Arena before hosting the Richmond Sockeyes on Sunday. Both games are scheduled to start at 4 pm.
