The Steelers Run Out of Fuel and Lose in Overtime

The Grandivew Steelers have had a busy start to the season as they started their campaign with two games on the road against the Aldergrove Kodiaks and North Vancouver Wolf Pack. The Steelers split the two games on the road before their home opener tonight against the Chilliwack Jets. The Steelers are on the back half of a back to back set as the Jets will surely test to see how much fuel the boys in black and yellow have.

It’s a decent start by the Steelers as they complete a beautiful tic tac toe play with the man advantage to open the scoring while goaltender Muc makes his season debut and does the rest to shut the door with the Jets racking up the shots on the scoreboard.

In the middle period, the Jets caught the Steelers off-guard right off the face-off to tie the game as Jets forward Wendall Adriano shows some finish. He later added a second goal for the Jets with an absolute missile top shelf to put the Steelers behind by one.

In the third, the Steelers pressed with an aggressive forecheck although they couldn’t solve Jets goaltender Rempel. In the late stages of the game, the Steelers were penalizes for a trip and made things much more difficult. The Steelers pull the goal with about 80 seconds left in the game were finally able to get the puck past Rempel to tie the game with about 45 seconds left to push the game into overtime. The Steelers managed to claw back into the game to guaranteed a single point.

In Overtime, the Steelers gained possession and generated two grade A chances but were not able to beat Rempel. The Jets going the other way, turn on the after burners to get a breakaway and guess who, Jets Adriano completes his hat trick to spoil the Steelers home opener.

The Steelers salvage a point in an overtime lose to the Jets.

The Steelers generated 32 shots and the Jets generated 30 shots.
