The Grandview Steelers have been busy this week as they prepare for their home opener this Sunday.
The Steelers opened their season on Wednesday on the road against the Aldergrove Kodiaks. With the chance of spoiling their home opener the Steelers carried a 1 goal lead heading into the third period. However things unraveled in the final 20 minutes as the Kodiaks clawed and scratched their way back scoring 4 while the Steelers only answered back once dropping a 4-2 decision. The Steelers getting goals from Nathan Bran and Steven Konechny.
Last night on Saturday, the Steelers found themselves with another chance to spoil a home opener as they went to battle against the formidable North Vancouver Wolf Pack. Both teams traded goals in the first period. The Steelers regain the lead in the second to lead 2-1 after 2 before the Wolf Pack responded in the latter half of the third to tie up the game and extending the game into sudden death overtime. One of the new faces on the roster, Matteo Pero, played OT hero to grab the Steelers first victory of the season. The Steelers also getting goals from Vincent Timperio and Steven Konechny.
